Overview
CompoundClash is a 2-player chemistry board game on a 6×6 grid. Each player has 18 miniatures (tokens) to place on the board when claiming elements.
Phase 1 — Harvest (12 min)
Roll the Letter Die (A-F) and Number Die (1-6). Place your miniature on that cell to claim the element.
Conflict Rules
If you land on an opponent's cell:
- ⚔️ Challenge: A chemistry quiz pops up. Answer correctly within 10 seconds to steal the element and replace their miniature. Wrong answer = 30-second time penalty deducted from YOUR clock.
- 💰 Bribe: Sacrifice one element from your inventory. You lose that element but steal the contested one. Their miniature is returned; yours takes its place.
- 💡 Swap: Pick one of your owned elements. Your opponent gets that element (and the miniature stays), while you get the contested element. Strategic trading!
- 🏃 Retreat: Back off. No penalty, your miniature is returned unused. But you lose your turn.
Landing on YOUR own cell
If you roll a cell you already own, your turn is simply skipped (no miniature wasted).
Noble Gas Bonus
He, Ne, Ar cannot be collected. Landing on one = instant +3 bonus points. No miniature placed.
Running out of Miniatures
If you have 0 miniatures left, you cannot claim new squares. Your turn is auto-skipped. Manage your 18 wisely!
Phase 2 — Bonding (8 min)
Each player takes turns combining their harvested elements into molecules using recipe cards. Each molecule has a point value.
Scoring
- Simple (HCl, H₂O, NaCl...): 1-2 pts
- Mid-tier (NaOH, NH₃, MgCl₂...): 3 pts
- Complex (CH₄, CaCO₃...): 4-5 pts
- Noble gas bonus: 3 pts each
Winning
Highest total score wins. Tie-break: most Base-type molecules. Still tied? Fewest penalty seconds wins.
